Organic Grower Summit Announces Two New Educational Sessions; Matt Seeley Details



MONTEREY, CA - If you’re mapping out your itinerary for this year’s Organic Grower Summit (OGS), presented by Western Growers and Organic Produce Network (OPN), you don’t want to miss the show’s latest update. OGS has revealed the next ed session for the 2023 show, titled “Roadmap to an Organic Sustainable Pest Management Future.”

Matt Seeley, Chief Executive Officer, Organic Produce Network“OGS 2023 will provide up-to-date resources and information to support the continued success of organic producers, with an emphasis on the changing organic production landscape as well as the role of ag technology,” said Matt Seeley, Chief Executive Officer of Organic Produce Network. “From seed to soil to harvest, our goal is to present the most relevant and timely information on the most important subjects and issues facing organic production.”

The newly announced ed session will focus on a systematic approach to managing pests in organic agricultural systems. According to a press release, the session will feature three industry experts discussing the ins and outs of organic pest management.

Organic Grower Summit is tackling pest control with its newest educational session, “Roadmap to an Organic Sustainable Pest Management Future,” featuring Gina Colfer, Kim Horton, Matthew Grieshop, and Jo Ann Baumgartner

The panel will be moderated by Gina Colfer, Sustainable Solutions PCA/CCA at Wilbur Ellis, and will include panelists Kim Horton, Agronomy Manager at Taylor Farms; Matthew Grieshop, Director for the Cal Poly Center for Organic Production and Research; and Jo Ann Baumgartner, Executive Director at Wild Farm Alliance.

OGS is also helping growers tackle organic hurdles with its “Understanding Evolving Production Challenges for Organic Growers” ed session, featuring Brise Tencer, Larry Jacobs, Dr. Shriya Rangarajan, and Darryl Wong

As the release went on to note, an interactive 90-minute ed session, “Understanding Evolving Production Challenges for Organic Growers,” will also showcase findings from Organic Farming Research Foundation California Organic Research Agenda report as well as ongoing research at the University of California’s Organic Agriculture Institute. This session will be moderated by Brise Tencer, Executive Director at OFRF, with panelists such as Dr. Shriya Rangarajan, a postdoctoral scholar with the OAI; Darryl Wong, Executive Director of the Center for Agroecology; and Larry Jacobs, President of Jacobs Farm del Cabo.
