Procurant's Kevin Brooks Details 2023 Innovations

WATSONVILLE, CA - Innovations abound in the produce sphere, and some of the companies single-handedly leading the charge are those concerned with the global supply chain. With new solutions on the horizon, I turned to Procurant’s Kevin Brooks to learn about what the company has in store for 2023.

Kevin Brooks, Chief Marketing Officer, Procurant“Since launching our first products in 2019 across retail perishables, procurement, and food safety, we’ve rolled them out across major retailers such as Albertsons and Merchants Distributors (MDI),” Procurant’s Chief Marketing Officer explained to me. “We’ve continued to innovate with an industry-first partnership with Uber Freight to lower the cost of delivered loads for produce suppliers, a produce inspection app integrated with the procurement and shipping process and in active use in retailer DCs today, and integrated third-party data alerts within the Procurant platform.”

This in particular allows users to track commodity pricing, recall alerts, and more in real-time directly within their commercial (buyer or seller) activities.

Since first launching in 2019, Procurant has rolled out its products at retailers like Albertsons and has even teamed up with Uber Freight to lower the cost of delivered loads for produce suppliers

“Going forward, Procurant is bringing together a fully integrated procurement, food safety, and supply chain visibility solution for retailers to bring more efficiency, lower costs, and enable compliance with regulations such as HACCP for food safety and FSMA Rule 204 for produce traceability,” Kevin remarked. “The industry has long needed a better solution for managing perishables at the retailer/wholesaler level, and to bring together increasingly fragmented data and process execution capabilities across the supply chain.”

One of the ways Procurant does this is by reducing costs and increasing visibility from the grower/shipper to the retail buyer and foodservice managers.

Moving forward, the Procurant team is working on a fully integrated procurement, food safety, and supply chain visibility solution for retailers to increase efficiency, lower costs, and enable compliance with regulations

“We are helping our customers automate routine tasks, manage by exception, and essentially ‘do more with less,’” Kevin added.

Procurant is also piloting a major new retail customer for its food safety solution in their stores and distribution centers. Although names are yet to be disclosed, we’ll be here awaiting the news!
