Publix Appoints New Vice Presidents
LAKELAND, FL - Publix is bolstering its executive team after announcing the appointments of Marcy Benton and John Provenzano to the Vice President of Human Resources and Vice President of Public Affairs positions, respectively.
“Marcy and John have a passion for Publix and our associates,” said CEO & President Todd Jones. “I’m excited they will help us continue the growth and success of our company and assist in perpetuating our culture."
Benton received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida and her master’s degree in business administration from the University of South Florida, according to a company press release. In 1992, Benton began her career with Publix as an Accounting Clerk, joining human resources in 1995 where she held various positions. In 2013, she was promoted to Director of Retail Associate Relations, and, in 2017, she was promoted to her current position, Vice President of Talent Management. Now, as Vice President of Human Resources, Benton will take responsibility of all human resources functions.
Before joining Publix in 2017, Provenzano received a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in business administration from Georgetown University. He also previously worked as a Government Affairs Director for Delta Airlines and as Executive Director of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST). He joined the Publix team in 2017 after taking on the Vice President of Government Relations position. In his new role as Vice President of Public Affairs, Provenzano will be responsible for government relations, customer care and social media, and media and community relations.
