Star Produce's New Expansion
Saskatoon, SK Canada
Star Produce has expanded in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with its fourth Canadian distribution center. The new center, dubbed Vega Processing, will add to the current line up of Star Produce locations in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Calgary, Alberta and Burnaby, British Columbia.
The center offers 36, 000 square feet of office and warehouse space and includes multiple temperature coolers, a grading and repacking area, and 12 shipping and receiving doors, according to a press release. Vega Processing will handle fruit and vegetable shipments from the eastern United States, eastern Canada, Mexico, South America and South Africa that are destined for Western provinces. The fresh cut processing company and sister to Star Produce, Fresh Direct Foods, will have a presence in the new center.
Greg Kennedy, Manager – Winnipeg Division, states, "Winnipeg’s central location and its close proximity to the US border make it an ideal place to route shipments through. Vega will take some pressure off the other Star distribution centers and cut down on travel time in the region."
