Superfresh Growers® Launches Newest Episode of Orchard Update Series; Dave Gleason Shares

YAKIMA, WA - Who’s ready for the next Orchard Update? Superfresh Growers® has continued its informative series with the latest episode, bringing new updates straight from its Gala apple orchard in Yakima, Washington. The newest Orchard Update video explores how the company uses pruning to balance the apple crop.

Dave Gleason, Horticulturist, Superfresh Growers®“If we don't have enough flowers, we won't have enough apples,” Horticulturist and Tree Talker Dave Gleason shares from the orchard as a dusting of snow falls. “Of course, if we have too many flowers, then there's too much competition for the nutrients in the tree.”

Pruning is one of the most essential winter activities in orchards, a task the Superfresh farm teams will soon be taking on. It’s all about keeping the right balance between leaves and flowering buds, ensuring that the crop is abundant, high-quality, and well-sized.

As a recent release explained, the trees begin to sleep this time of year, and as the leaves fall away, Dave and the Superfresh Growers orchard teams can get a better look at the limbs of the tree, which are good indicators of its health.

To dive further into this process, be sure to check out the Superfresh Growers Orchard Update video above!

Something tells me more updates are coming to the apple provider’s YouTube page, and ANUK will be here to report on the latest releases.
