United Fresh Produce Association Announces 25 Retail Produce Manager Award Honorees
WASHINGTON, DC - As this Friday is Love Your Produce Manager Day, United Fresh Produce Association is getting into the celebratory spirit with its 2021 Retail Produce Manager Awards Program. In partnership with Dole Food Company, the association recognized 25 exceptional retail produce managers throughout the United States and in Canada for their hard work in promoting fresh fruits and vegetables.
“Produce managers are the face of our industry to the consumer. Their creative merchandising and positive approach to customer service directly correlates to the growth of sales and ultimately consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables,” said United Fresh President and CEO Tom Stenzel. “We are grateful to Dole for once again sponsoring this program and for their partnership in recognizing these 25 deserving honorees. I look forward to celebrating our winners this June.”
In its 17th year of recognizing exceptional retail produce managers, United Fresh named 25 honorees that best represented supermarket banners, commissaries, and independent retail stores from 21 different states and one Canadian province. The winners will be the honored guests during United Fresh 2021 this June.
Since the program’s inception in 2005, according to the release, over 375 retail produce managers, representing more than 120 different retail banners, have been honored for their contributions to the industry. The program pays special recognition to produce managers working every day on the front line to increase sales and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.
“During the tumult of this past year, one consistency in every store was the fortitude of the frontline store workers—every day, these dedicated individuals and the companies that they represent placed the needs of their customers as a top priority,” said Johan Linden, President and CEO of Dole Food Company. “The product knowledge and expertise that they share and advocate help all of us be successful. The United Fresh Retail Produce Manager Award program is an opportunity for Dole, and the broader industry, to say thank you for a year and a career of promoting produce.”
This year’s winners were selected from hundreds of nominations submitted by retailers and produce suppliers across the industry. Nominations were evaluated on several criteria, including efforts to increase produce consumption through excellence in merchandising, special displays and promotions, community service, and commitment to customer satisfaction.

All winners, along with their corporate produce directors, will be honored during United Fresh 2021. In addition to their awards, five Grand Prize recipients will each receive a $1,000 cash prize.
