Wish Farms' Amber Maloney Shares the Scoop on Valentine's Day Merchandising

PLANT CITY, FL - The month of amor is here, meaning Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and so are eye-catching merchandising opportunities. Providing some inspiration, Wish Farms has just the berries for your consumers to let their loved ones know they are berry important to them—the pick of the patch if you will.

Amber Maloney, Director of Marketing, Wish Farms“To have a pink and red color combination promoting a healthy sweet treat for Valentine’s Day is an opportunity for retailers to capitalize on,” explains Amber Maloney, Director of Marketing. “Wish Farms Pink-A-Boo Pineberries® and strawberries displayed on the shelf side-by-side is a produce department dream! We are really looking forward to seeing the retailer’s creative merchandising both in-store and across their digital mediums.”

Giving retailers a boost, Wish Farms is offering custom point-of-sale designs and prints to help educate and entice shoppers to partake in newly launched pineberries. These unique assets include beautiful photography as well as farm and lifestyle videos to bolster buyers’ digital promotions too.

In the lead-up to Valentine’s Day, Wish Farms has debuted its largest consumer campaign to date, which will run through June 2022. The goal of which is to drive demand for pineberries by utilizing excitement, education, and engagement.

The berry supplier and marketer will also be partnering with Registered Dietician Nutritionists in specific key markets nationwide to be on-air talent and promote pineberries on local television programs, further showcasing the new variety ahead of the holiday. As a stand-out berry, there is no better time than Valentine’s Day to capture sales.

“With their eye-catching, conversation-starting appearance, pineberries are a delicious and decorative addition to any charcuterie board, cocktail, or dessert,” says Amber, encouraging creative cross-merchandising displays across the produce aisle. “For example, when celebrating Valentine’s Day with a sweetheart, pineberries’ blushing color and sweet taste pair well with strawberries, sparkling wine, and chocolate.”

Perfectly complementing the blushing pink pineberry, Wish Farms will also be promoting its Valentine’s Day staple strawberries. Red, sweet, and heart-shaped, Amber tells me that retailers can’t go wrong adding them to their shelves during this peak berry holiday.

Wish Farms will be backing these brilliant display ideas with pineberry volumes on track to fulfill retailers’ needs. Currently, the berry grower is harvesting the new offering in Central Florida with lighter acreage coming out of Oxnard, California. The company is also planting in both Salinas and Santa Maria, California, with production expected to transition to these regions in the spring to carry volumes into the fall.

“This Valentine’s Day, we’ll be seeing pineberry volumes align perfectly for a high demand holiday promotion,” Amber adds. “We do not see the availability of Wish Farms Pink-A-Boo Pineberries cannibalizing strawberry sales. On the contrary, we see the interest of trying the new pineberry and pairing it with the familiar strawberry everyone knows and loves will lead to better movement of both berries.”

Help your shoppers be the perfect valentine this month by adding Wish Farms’ berries to your aisles.
