WP Rawl's Christine Jackson Discusses New Sustainable Packaging Solution and Upcoming Sustainable Solutions

PELION, SC - As we look ahead at 2023, the importance of sticking to our values is of utmost importance. Companies dialing into furthering their mission statements is testimony to the strength of the produce industry. One such company is none other than WP Rawl, which is bringing sustainability to the forefront with recent moves.

Christine Jackson, Senior Manager of Marketing and Product Development, WP Rawl“Sustainability is one of our core values as a company,” Christine Jackson, Senior Manager of Marketing and Product Development, told me. “We have always been focused on becoming more sustainable as a company. We recently launched a recyclable film solution for our bagged leafy greens, which makes us the first-to-market with recyclable packaging in our category. We are also working on other sustainable packaging solutions and projects in and around our facilities to help us achieve sustainability as a whole.”

At the center of this strategy is an understanding that the actions taken today will affect generations to come.

“Consumers also continue to drive demand for sustainable packaging solutions. Today’s consumer is more likely to prefer packaging that is recyclable, and we have heard that message from them loud and clear for years via our website, email, and social media channels,” Christine added.

Diving into further detail on the recyclable film solution, Christine noted that the new film is a 100 percent recyclable package via store drop off, and the back of each package clearly communicates the simple process from How2Recycle®.

“That’s a standardized labeling system that clearly communicates recycling instructions to the public,” Christine explained. “Once emptied and dried out, the consumer can conveniently scan the empty package to find a store drop-off location closest to them.”

In addition to this new packaging solution, WP Rawl has partnered with another company to drive sustainable solutions.

“We have partnered with CarbonCents, which will help provide insight into our operation by providing solutions to collect, measure, and present data efficiently. Our goal is to be able to take the data compiled and not only learn from it but utilize it to assist our team with making key decisions to reduce costs and emissions. All while creating a healthy working environment and a more sustainable future for all,” she remarked.

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for the company’s future endeavors, so stay tuned to AndNowUKnow for the latest.
