Wendy McManus Gears Up for Mental Fitness Session at 2021 Women's Fresh Perspective's Conference

SANTA ANA PUEBLO, NM - We all know that physical fitness is vital to one’s health, but what about mental fitness? As we saw the toll that quarantine took on our overall well-being, it’s become clear that nurturing a healthy mind is equally important. Lucky for us, Connect 2 Potential's Leadership Coach Wendy McManus is hosting another session at the upcoming Women’s Fresh Perspectives Conference (WFPC) from The Center for Growing Talent by the Produce Marketing Association, and this one is focused on mental fitness to help all of those in attendance get their minds in shape.

Wendy McManus, Leadership Coach, Connect 2 Potential“The WFPC event is different from any other industry event I’ve attended,” Wendy informs me, elaborating on why the conference is the perfect place for her to host this session. “The focus is on personal and professional development. We get the chance to step back from the day-to-day grind to consider what’s important and how to be successful in all facets of our lives. It’s also a tremendous opportunity to forge new relationships and strengthen existing ones.”

As we already reported on Wendy’s exciting session that will provide women in the industry with the chance to conquer their hesitancy when it comes to public speaking, her second session will go even deeper into overcoming challenges created by our ways of thinking.

“This session will be focused on building mental fitness, which is your ability to handle life’s challenges with a positive mindset,” Wendy describes. “This concept sounds simple, but as we all know, it’s not always easy to do. However, improving your mental fitness can have a massive impact on your relationships, your performance, and your peace of mind.”

According to Wendy, the ability to manage one’s inner dialogue is key to not only emotional and cognitive health, but physical and spiritual health as well. Together, the strength of these essential parts of your well-being can lead to greater success in the workplace, deeply improving the ability to maintain a calm and clear perspective regardless of what life throws at you.

“I’m not talking about just ignoring the challenges of life, slapping a happy-face sticker over every difficulty, and generating fake optimism,” says Wendy. “Instead, the strategies I’ll share are designed to help you manage your internal dialogue and shift your perspective in an authentic, powerful way. This work is based on neuroscience and positive psychology, and it’s designed to rewire your brain so that reacting to challenges with a more positive mindset becomes natural to you.”

In an industry like ours where unexpected challenges can come at rapid fire and long days are part of the job, it is easy to succumb to stress that can affect thoughts and reactions. However, through Wendy’s session, she will provide tools to help manage your internal dialogue and help truly navigate hurdles with a positive, constructive outlook.

The session will explore how those in the industry can overcome challenges created by our ways of thinking, demonstrating how to manage your internal dialogue to maintain a positive outlook

“This is one of the most exciting facets of being a Mental Fitness Trainer and bringing this work to the produce industry. It helps people be better leaders, team members, and humans because it supports so many aspects of the whole self,” she explains. “The produce industry is inherently fast-paced and stress-inducing. I’ve shepherded more than 50 people through my Mental Fitness Boot Camp program in the past year, and most of them were produce industry professionals, so I’ve had a front-row view of these transformations.”

After hearing Wendy’s unique approach and passion for her role, I can’t wait for her second session. If this sounds like exactly what you need, be sure to show up Tuesday, September 14, at 11:00 a.m.
