Amazon Senior Vice President Jeff Blackburn Departs
SEATTLE, WA - Amazon’s expansion of its grocery business has significantly ramped up as of late, with former CEO Jeff Bezos shifting his role to focus on the segment, and new stores popping up weekly. One integral leader who has helped bring the company to where it is today is Senior Vice President Jeff Blackburn. After an impressive career with the company, Blackburn announced earlier this week that he is now stepping down.
According to a report from Reuters, Blackburn was with Amazon for 22 years and officially announced his resignation this past Tuesday. He played a large role in many of Amazon’s merger and acquisition activities over the years, as well as expanded the company’s advertising capabilities during his tenure.
Prior to joining Amazon, Blackburn worked with Deutsche Bank, drafting its initial public offering prospectus.
The news source went on to note how this change in the leadership team will open up new opportunities for Amazon’s incoming CEO, Andy Jassy, to transform the company’s executive lineup as it continues to pursue growth as a grocer.
