Chiquita Aims To Empower Female Workforce



FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - Let’s hear it for the ladies! We at ANUK will be celebrating women in the industry all month long, and Chiquita is one supply-side friend joining us. Continuing to work toward its goal of achieving full gender equality across operations, the company is launching female-focused brand initiatives and providing unique support to mothers. With this launch, Chiquita aims to unite and empower its valued female workforce, as well as the women who enjoy its iconic bananas across the globe.

According to a press release, Chiquita has put several safeguard tools in place to protect its workers and prevent inappropriate behavior. Since 2011, the company has had an agreement with IUF and COLSIBA to promote workers’ rights, specifically promoting gender equality and protecting women in the workplace.

In addition, Chiquita actively works to ensure that all voices within the company can be freely heard and that women feel safe to express concerns without backlash. A key component of this culture is a dedicated helpline, which is available 24/7, that allows employees to anonymously report any discrimination or harassment they may be experiencing.

Furthering these goals, each year the brand shows its support in the fight against breast cancer by turning its blue sticker pink during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The company also maintains annual partnerships with various associations such as Pink Ribbon, American Cancer Society, and Girls vs Cancer in their efforts to undertake research and support patients, survivors, and caregivers.

Recognizing the challenges women may be facing while working from home or assisting in virtual learning, Chiquita has also provided kid-approved recipes and family-friendly activities to help ease some of the stress of the past year.
