MIAMI, FL - Fresh produce inherently gives off the desire to live a healthy and fruitful life, pun intended. However, there are many around the world with limited to no access to fresh produce, much less to drinkable water. Continental Fresh is aiming to turn the tides of this narrative with BLUE Missions in hand, as the importer and distributor lets known its Water For All Trek.

Albert Perez, Chief Executive Officer and Grower Relations, Continental Fresh“Our Water For All Trek is a fundraiser, and it will take place in the Dominican Republic before Thanksgiving,” Albert Perez, Chief Executive Officer and Grower Relations, Continental Fresh, tells me. “We will be hiking for three days up and down. On the fourth day, we will be visiting one of the towns in the area where a water project was installed by BLUE Missions. This is a great opportunity for participants to see the work and effort we put into the project and speak with the locals to get a better understanding of how water has not only changed their community, but their life.”

The trip is not for the faint of heart as it is a 27-mile trek roundtrip. However, for those with a big heart, it is well worth it. The fundraiser’s proceeds will go back to BLUE Missions, which will fund clean water and more project opportunities for communities in need.

Danny Rodriguez, President, BLUE Missions“Clean water impacts everything: it’s the foundation of every community,” Danny Rodriguez, President of BLUE Missions, explains. “It creates opportunities for children to go to school, women to raise their families the way they want to, and for residents to earn an income for their families instead of spending hours walking to collect water. What we’re trying to do is level the playing field so that they can realize their dreams and pursue their passions.”

Continental Fresh and BLUE Missions have been hard at work to bring accessible water to underserved communities, and now, the duo wants to give the industry a chance to take part. Signups are available now to join the trek, which will take place November 18–23. Already, Patrick Kelly from the Produce Industry podcast has pledged to climb Pico Duarte, the highest peak in the Caribbean, and there is always room for more.

Continental Fresh and BLUE Missions is opening up the opportunity for industry members to visit key water projects in the Dominican Republic this year from November 18 to 23

“We want everyone to understand that you can be in a business and still make a difference,” Albert imparts. “The trek is a great opportunity to inspire those that want to give back and see where the money truly goes. We want to share the opportunities to get involved and give back to those in need because that is who we are as Continental.”
