GOODLETTSVILLE, TN – Dollar General is still looking to take U.S. shores by storm, as the company has announced a solidified presence in its 44th state. Dollar General officially expanded into North Dakota when it opened a store over the weekend in Hankinson, with six more planned for the state. 

“Celebrating today’s grand opening in North Dakota is very exciting for Dollar General,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General CEO. “This is an important milestone for Dollar General as we expand into our 44th state and build our presence in the upper Midwest. We look forward to serving additional communities with value and convenience as we grow our footprint throughout the state and welcoming new North Dakotan employees to the Dollar General family.” 

Dollar General is planning to follow the new store’s grand opening with six other locations and celebrations planned throughout the spring this year. According to a press release, the chain will also identify new areas for store growth throughout North Dakota. The stores in this region will be supported by one of Dollar General’s newest distribution centers in Janesville, Wisconsin.

As we previously reported, Dollar General stated that it would create around 10,000 new jobs in the new year, and open two new distribution centers. With a goal projected to increase nine percent of its overall workforce, it looks as though North Dakota is a part of this previously announced plan.

In March of 2015, the chain expanded from having locations in 40 states to 43, by adding Maine, Rhode Island, and Oregon to its location-based map.
