EAST COAST - As we continue to monitor active weather events in key ag areas, including storms on the East Coast, the Duda Farm Fresh Foods team recently reported that Tropical Storm Debby did not affect either of its South Florida or Georgia operations, but the company has its eye on the horizon for any natural challenges to come.

Following Debby was another disturbance in the tropical Atlantic, with a 50 percent chance of development. As we recently reported, Hurricane Ernesto made landfall in Puerto Rico with effects projected to reach the continental U.S. East Coast as well.

However, the company said several categories are still seeing additional volume.

Duda Farm Fresh Foods reports that its operations were unaffected by recent storms along the East Coast

“Radish harvest continues in Michigan. Current forecast is for additional volume for this week. Demand for radishes continues to be strong. Promotional and ad periods available in the 4-6 week outlook,” the company said in a report. “Warm weather continues to keep Michigan/Indiana corn ahead of schedule.”

Promotional volumes and opportunities are available through Labor Day offerings, with quality and taste remaining at peak. These are complemented too by the corn harvest in Georgia remaining steady.

Duda’s flagship offering, celery continues with planned volume out of Michigan with taste and appearance remaining very good and forecasted to continue that way until the season’s end in the first half of October.

As high-demand categories continue to keep us on our toes, AndNowUKnow will report the latest across the industry.
