
Duda Farm Fresh Foods Nominated Finalist in 2013 PMA Impact Awards
Duda Farm Fresh Foods has been named as a finalist for the PMA Impact Awards. The annual award recognizes fresh ideas and packaging excellence in produce and floral.
Duda's concept was inspired by Sony Pictures Animation’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. The line of promotional packaging gives fresh produce a makeover with the movie’s cast of colorful and creative fresh produce characters, according to a press release. In stores since July, the promotion is also dedicated to building awareness for the fight against hunger in America.
“We saw an opportunity to give back to a cause we all believe in,” said Nichole Towell, Director of Marketing for Duda Farm Fresh Foods. “In addition to building awareness for Feeding America and giving fresh produce a new dimension, we’ve also donated thousands of pounds of produce to local food banks across America.”
The company collaborated with Feeding America for the campaign, which aligned with Hunger Action Month, with support also going to local food banks and associations. Hunger Action Month is an effort to raise awareness of the 49 million people who struggle with hunger in the United States.
“The family of “foodimals” introduced in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is delivering a lot of fun and doing a lot of good,” said George Leon, Executive Vice President of Consumer Marketing at Sony Pictures Entertainment. “We’re very grateful to Duda Farm Fresh Foods and our other produce promotional partners for believing in our cause and helping us realize our potential to influence consumers and their healthy eating choices.”
Award winners will be announced at PMA’s Fresh Summit conference during the brunch general session on Friday, October 18th. Duda Farm Fresh Foods will exhibit at booth #1219 during the PMA Fresh Summit conference being held on October 18-20 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
