MONTEREY, CA - This year’s Foodservice Conference, the first to be hosted by the newly formed International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA), is upon us, spotlighting a crucial segment of the buy-side for our industry.

John Dmytriw, Vice President of Business Development, Index Fresh“We have greatly appreciated attending in years past, and I am excited to see new faces and opportunities that might come with the new IFPA,” John Dmytriw, Vice President of Business Development at Index Fresh, says. “We are a year-round supplier of avocados and look forward to having those conversations at the show that demonstrate our commitment to anyone we supply. Produce is extremely challenging, markets are volatile, and, in foodservice especially, dependability is everything. We are known for honoring commitments with foodservice partners.”

John shares that, to accomplish this, Index Fresh works hard to insulate customers from supply challenges throughout the year, working behind the scenes to meet its commitments.

“When we shake a hand, we follow through, which is so important as foodservice requires fixed prices and resources in many aspects,” he points out. “Most are highly aware that year-over-year avocado demand is increasing, but what is not always highlighted is how much of that demand is generated by the new ways chefs and foodservice operators utilize them. They show the public new ways to take avocados home and enjoy, serving the category as a whole by driving demand. To do so, they need supply they can depend on.”

As foodservice operators expand the way they do business, John says the show is a great opportunity to bring everyone together.

“The industry continues to adjust to a hybrid of in-office atmosphere—where visits might be possible—and working from home, which makes for less on-site visits,” he tells me. “In the past, retail and foodservice were distinctly separated in ways that have since evolved for more distribution opportunities for both.”

As such, John shares Index Fresh sees immense value in the Foodservice Conference to reconnect with those it works with as well as the potential the new organization means for the event and others it hosts.
