Kingston Fresh Expands Mango Program and Welcomes the Grape Category to Portfolio
Recently rebranded Kingston Fresh is gearing up for its mango program in Guatemala. As the program wraps up in Peru over the next few weeks the company will begin its transition into Guatemala during mid-March. Currently mango demand is good and markets are firm with moderate supplies.
“On the mango front, Kingston will be adding Ataulfo’s to its mango line this year as well as additional mango acreage in the program,” Nick Proia, Vice President of Business Development, tells AndNowUKnow.
“We will start in Guatemala in with Ataulfo’s and Tommy’s with the program running through the end of May. Peak season will arrive in mid-April,” he continues.
In addition to the company’s mango program, Kingston is also shipping grapes from Chile. The program will run into mid-May at which point the company will move into Mexico before transitioning to California.
“Grapes are a new program for us. This is the first year we have done them but we will be shipping from all areas through the end of the year as they change,” Proia notes.
Chilean grapes had a bit of a later start this year, due to weather but that has self-corrected and all is on track for Kingston.
