WESTERN, US - A renewed surge of warmth is building across the western U.S. to start April, following a brief break from March’s record-setting heat, according to reports from AccuWeather. 

Along the California coast, highs typically in the 60s are expected to climb into the 80s, while inland areas like the Central Valley and Los Angeles could approach 90 degrees. Phoenix is forecast to reach the 90s, and even typically cooler cities like Seattle and Portland may see temperatures rise into the 70s.

This warming trend arrives at a critical moment. Snowpack across California sits at just 18% of the historical average for early April, and the added heat is expected to accelerate melt. While reservoirs remain relatively strong following earlier winter storms, the reduced snowpack raises longer-term concerns about water availability later in the season.

Dry and breezy conditions are also complicating fire response efforts. Recent wildfires in Southern California have burned thousands of acres, with containment efforts facing ongoing challenges as warm, stable conditions limit moisture and rainfall opportunities.
