MILLEN, GA - In this month’s member spotlight, Southern Roots honors Anna Burch and the meaningful impact she brings to the SEPC community.

What is your "elevator speech"?

I joined the SEPC team as the Marketing Manager in 2017. I enjoy helping our SEPC family through the many facets of my position, including coordinating the activities and events within each conference, assisting with production management and public relations, and building and maintaining member connections within the SEPC website and social sites.

When I am not working in SEPC’s Millen office, I am either serving as the Millen Methodist Church’s Minister of Music, where I have been blessed to lead the adult and children’s choirs in worship since 2010, or I am volunteering with The PAL Players at our local community theater. My most rewarding role, however, is my partnership with my husband, Charlie, raising our two daughters, Millie Kate and Charlotte.

What are a few resources that you would recommend to someone looking to gain insight into becoming a better leader in the produce industry?

Both SEPC’s STEP-UPP Program and Next Generation Leadership Academy provide distinctive pathways for career growth and leadership development.

What is on your bucket list that you would most like to do?

I would love to experience the Hawaiian Islands with my family.

What is one characteristic that you believe all leaders should possess?

Humility is, in my view, one of the most important characteristics a leader can possess. A humble leader listens well, learns constantly, and puts others before themselves. It builds trust, encourages collaboration, and creates space for others to grow. True leadership isn’t about being in the spotlight — it’s about lifting others up and leading with grace, purpose, and gratitude.

What advice would you give someone going into a leadership role for the first time?

Lead through service — the best leaders put the needs of others first and lead by empowering, supporting, and uplifting those around them.

What chore do you absolutely despise doing?

Laundry.

What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?

The recent death of my father, a bittersweet experience of the frailty of human life as well as the grace and mercy of our heavenly Father, has made me stronger not through self-reliance or self-preservation but through complete surrender— When I am weak, He is strong.

What is your favorite part of your career?

My favorite part of my career is bringing our themes to life in meaningful ways — blending inspiration and creativity into every experience. I also truly appreciate how our focus on faith and family helps cultivate unity, shared values, and purpose across everything we do.

What motivates you to work hard?

I find motivation in serving God and my family, faithfully using the abilities I’ve been blessed with to strive to make a meaningful impact.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about fostering connections through shared life experiences—for my family and others—whether through music, theater, or our SEPC community.
