JACKSONVILLE, FL - After announcing an agreement to acquire Waugh Foods early this week, foodservice giant Sysco may once again be making plans to expand—this time in the Southeast. The Jacksonville Daily Record reports that the company is exploring a plan to expand its Northwest Jacksonville distribution center—growing the facility to a grand total of 312,300 square feet.

The plan would, reportedly, grow the company’s preexisting location by almost 60 percent—adding an additional 116,537 square feet to its existing 195,724-square-foot warehouse.

Though Sysco did not respond to a call for comment from the Daily Record, the news source cited a mobility fee calculation certificate issued by the city of Jacksonville on January 23 for the project planned on 16.33 acres at 3100 Hilton Street, and noted that local construction management company Stellar is listed as Sysco’s agent.

Sysco’s Houston-based export specialty division Sysco International Food Group Inc will reportedly add dry warehouse and office space, a dock and concrete truck apron, and a freezer-cooler to its existing facilities.
