United Natural Foods, Inc. Appoints Andre Persaud as President and Chief Executive Officer of Retail; Sandy Douglas Comments
PROVIDENCE, RI - Starting this month, a new executive will step on the scene at United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI). The distributor has appointed Andre Persaud as its new President and Chief Executive Officer of Retail, effective November 6, 2023.
In his new executive role, Persaud will lead UNFI’s two retail banners, CUB and Shoppers Food Warehouse, a release stated. He will also serve on the distributor’s senior leadership team and report to Sandy Douglas, Chief Executive Officer and President.
Persaud brings nearly 30 years of retail experience to his new position, 20 of which were spent in leadership roles with large food and pharmacy operations. According to a release, he is a results-driven and collaborative leader with a diverse range of experience.
Before joining UNFI, Persaud served as Chief Retail Officer of Rite Aid, Executive Consultant at Wakefern Food Corp./ShopRite, Executive Vice President Retail at Shopko Stores, Senior Vice President of Store Operations at Burlington, Senior Vice President at Loblaw Companies Ltd, and held progressive leadership roles at Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart Canada.
“Andre is a proven leader with a demonstrated track record of success across a range of retail organizations,” said Douglas. “We are excited for Andre to join our team and look forward to the positive contributions he will bring to the Company in this leadership position.”
