Westfalia Fruit Group Announces Dr. Khotso Mokhele as New Chair of the Board
SOUTH AFRICA - Drumroll, please! I have an exciting announcement from Westfalia Fruit Group to share with you all today. Westfalia Fruit International and its parent company HMH Group have named a new Chair to head up their Board of Directors. Dr. Khotso Mokhele was recently named as the Chair of both boards and has some exciting plans to share.
“I would like to thank the Boards of the HMH Group and Westfalia Fruit International for their confidence in appointing me as the new Chair of both boards,” Dr. Mokhele said. “We have ambitious plans for the future, to continue positively developing the global avocado industry for the long term, supported by research, innovation, and commitment of our Westfalia colleagues.”
Dr. Mokhele joined the board of the HMH Group as a Non-Executive Director in 2013 and is the Founder of the Academy of Science of South Africa and the National Research Foundation. A press release explained that Dr. Mokhele is also President of the Hans Merensky Legacy Foundation, which promotes and assists in the development of natural resources within South Africa and its neighbors through research, experimentation, and demonstration.
The new Chair’s role in science is recognized internationally—he has served as a Special Advisor to two Ministers of Science and Technology in South Africa and has also represented South Africa on the executive board of UNESCO.
Cheers to Dr. Khotso Mokhele on entering this new role!
