Raley's Assists Communities In Need

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - From now through the end of the year, Raley's, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source are getting into the holiday spirit with Raley’s Food For Families holiday bag program. The program "doubles customers’ charitable giving by offering a $10 bag of wholesome, nonperishable food valued at more than $20 to benefit local food banks." Each bag carries twenty-three pounds of food to satisfy those holiday appetites. Donations can also be made online at the Raley's website and at any increment during the year at collection boxes at every check stand.

Between Raley's customers and employees, the campaign helped raise 2,272,563 pounds of food through the program, last season. 100% of donations go directly to the local food banks. In order to do this Raley’s absorbs all administrative fees. Food banks then picks up where Raley's leaves off, distributing donations to those in the community. Seventy-two food banks are partnered with Raley's throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada. “We’ve seen a 30-35% increase in the need for food assistance in the past year alone,” said John Healey, President and CEO of California Emergency Foodlink. “One-third of all the food that we receive is from Food For Families — we wouldn’t be able to feed the hungry without this program.”
