North America’s largest open field tomato grower, Lipman, has recently announced their ongoing commitment to the “Lipman Local” program. As part of the company’s dedication to harvesting the freshest produce available, the initiative is set to support small and local farms across the country. Lipman farmers travel the country in order to meet local growers and share best practice techniques as well as assist in the efforts of these smaller operations in a number of ways. The company provides aid such as helping growers achieve necessary food safety certifications and generally elevating crop quality. “At Lipman, we’re dedicated to the farming community as a whole – and want to do everything we can to work with others to make it a success,” said Scott Rush, Director of Lipman Local. “Having grown up on a farm, I can relate to these growers – and Lipman started out as a small farm more than six decades ago, so we understand the work it takes to prosper. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished and want to help other small farmers do the same.”
