Bowery Announces sweetgreen Partnership; Katie Seawell and Nicolas Jammet Discuss

NEW YORK, NY - Another bridge between the fresh produce industry and foodservice has been built as Bowery has partnered with sweetgreen, the mission-driven restaurant brand. Through this collaboration, the grower’s local, safe, and pesticide-free salad greens will be offered at 45 sweetgreen locations within the tri-state area from March 30 to June 7, 2023.

Katie Seawell, Chief Commercial Officer, Bowery“Bowery is excited to partner with sweetgreen, a company that champions local suppliers and offers the freshest available produce,” said Katie Seawell, Chief Commercial Officer at Bowery. “Our climate-smart produce aligns with sweetgreen’s mission to build healthier communities by connecting people to real fresh food.”

This new partnership will bring the Bowery Bowl—featuring Bowery Spring Mix, cucumber, roasted sweet potato, spicy broccoli, raw carrots, sunflower seeds, roasted chicken, shaved Parmesan, and a lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette—to the sweetgreen app and retail locations in New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Bowery’s Spring Mix, like all of its other products, is grown in completely controlled environments year-round, according to a release. The greens are then harvested at peak freshness. The supplier designs and builds smart indoor farms near the communities it serves, using technology to create an intelligent, agile food system focused on flavor and freshness.

Nicolas Jammet, Co-Founder and Chief Concept Officer, sweetgreen “Ingredient transparency is key for sweetgreen, and this partnership with Bowery continues our mission of serving our guests sustainably and locally grown produce whenever possible,” said Nicolas Jammet, sweetgreen Co-Founder and Chief Concept Officer.

With its unique methods, Bowery’s vertical farms are 100 times more productive on the same amount of land as traditional agriculture and use less water. This partnership comes at a key time in the supplier’s growth as it recently doubled its production capacity in 2022 and is on track to do so again in 2023.
