California Avocado Commission Debuts Royal Wedding Video

IRVINE, CA - Nothing quite gets people talking the way a Royal Wedding does, and the upcoming union of Prince Harry to California-born princess-to-be Meghan Markle is no exception. Among those getting in on the wedding hype is none other than the California Avocado Commission (CAC), imploring the two royals to host their nuptials in the Golden State in its latest video.

Part of the company’s latest social media campaign, CAC wanted to develop shareable social content that promoted the origin of California avocados, while also inviting the future princess to come back to her California roots.

Jan DeLyser, Vice President of Marketing, California Avocado Commission“Incorporating California avocados into the conversations about current events that our target is following, such as the Royal Wedding, is more than just a fun idea,” said Jan DeLyser, Vice President of Marketing. “It is a creative a way to remind consumers that California avocados are in season now and share with them the beautiful land where they are grown.”

Instead of the royals getting married at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the video makes a case for the wedding being held at a California avocado grove. “If your marriage is going to be televised across the world, your ceremony had better be located in someplace beautiful,” says a man with a cheeky English accent as Windsor Castle comes into view. “Someplace even more beautiful!” he exclaims, as the shot cuts to sprawling acres of avocado groves and rolling hills of California’s.

The beauty of California shines through, as the cinematography sweeps over beaches, mountains, and up-close shots of ripening avocados. The loveliness of the location is enumerated as he argues the amenities and benefits of hosting the wedding next to an avocado grove. Dine under the shade of those beautiful green trees! Sleep under the stars in the rustic charm of an outdoor treehouse! Wow your guests with avocado gift baskets!

If there’s anything more Californian than avocados, we haven’t found it. So, “get your grove on,” Meghan, and maybe make a stop in California after the wedding?
