Church Brothers Farms Promotes Food Safety Team Members; Megan Chedwick Shares



SALINAS, CA - Our industry constantly plays witness to talented leaders climbing the ladder, and that is exactly what is happening over at Church Brothers Farms. The grower recently promoted multiple leaders within the Food Safety team, appointing Victor Soto as Food Safety Manager and Maria “Yulissa” Chavarin as Food Safety Specialist.

Victor Soto, Food Safety Manager, Church Brothers FarmsSoto joined the Church Brothers team seven years ago after receiving his certificate in Agriculture Food Safety from Hartnell College. He has gained valuable industry expertise working with both growers and the Church Brothers Harvesting team to grow and enhance the company’s food safety programs.

In his new role, Soto will be overseeing Church Brothers Farms’ Food Safety team.

In addition to Soto’s promotion, Maria “Yulissa” Chavarin has been promoted to Food Safety Specialist.

Maria “Yulissa” Chavarin, Food Safety Specialist, Church Brothers FarmsIn this newly appointed position, Chavarin will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, crew inspections, and employee trainings. According to a press release, she joined the Church Brothers team in 2016, initially working with the broccoli harvesting department before transitioning to Cooler Quality Control Technician in May of 2022.

“With Yulissa’s work on a Church Brothers harvesting crew and role in quality control, she brings an invaluable perspective to the Food Safety team. Yulissa will have a lot to learn, but I’m confident that with her experience and the training opportunities we have in place, she will be a great asset to the field food safety team,” Chedwick noted.
