Jacobs Farm del Cabo Touts Peak Quality and Availability of Its Herbs
SANTA CRUZ, CA - This season always brings about warm and comforting sensations that can be easily tapped into through taste. In other words, the weeks leading up to the beloved holidays gives retailers an opportunity to merchandise fresh produce in an irresistible way. Herbs, for example, can be cross-merchandised across all departments to build eye-catching displays that create a visceral experience for shoppers. According to Kyla Oberman, Marketing Manager at Jacobs Farm del Cabo, this time of year happens to yield peak quality and availability of the grower’s offerings, so retailers are in luck.
“The turn from Halloween to Thanksgiving is traditionally the kickoff to peak availability of Jacobs Farm brand organic fresh herbs including: basil, chives, cilantro, dill, mint, marjoram, oregano, rosemary, sage, tarragon, and thyme,” Kyla said. “Del Cabo branded zucchini, Persian cucumbers, padrons, shishitos, and cherry tomatoes are also plentiful this time of year.”
Jacobs Farm del Cabo products are grown fresh, organic, and with sustainability in mind. The grower offers a full line of fresh, organic herbs, including specially-curated herb mixes to enhance any type of dish: hearty herb mix (traditional bouquet garni); holiday mix (a great herb rub mixture); and pasta, poultry, and seafood mixes. With this in mind, I asked Kyla how retailers can best merchandise Jacobs Farm’s offerings.
“Ultimately, maintaining a consistent cold chain is the best way for the retailer to guarantee high quality and long shelf life to the end user,” she noted. “Maintaining proper moisture and temperature control is key. Herbs are an ideal accoutrement to many different grocery departments. Available in convenient pillar displays, Jacobs Farm herbs are a great item to promote recipe and other usage ideas.”
Kyla told me that displays located near refrigerators in the meat or dairy departments are ideal for promoting Jacobs Farm herbs before the holidays. Some display ideas include:
Rosemary skewered meats
Poultry herb mix turkey
Cream cheese herb spread
