BENSON, NC - The weather and the grills are heating up, meaning so too are opportunities for shoppers to enjoy sweetpotatoes and retailers to merchandise with them. In an effort to promote the category, the North Carolina SweetPotato Commission has launched the Blazin’ Blackstone Giveaway Contest, a summer recipe promotion spotlighting the myriad of ways to eat sweetpotatoes.

Michelle Grainger, Executive Director, North Carolina SweetPotato Commission“Sweetpotatoes are often thought of as a fall or holiday food, but we’re here to say there are so many delightful recipes and uses that make sweetpotatoes a year-round favorite, especially when paired with outdoor cooking,” said Michelle Grainger, Executive Director. “This promotion really lets both consumers and sweetpotatoes be the star and highlights the many creative dishes that make sweetpotatoes a meal favorite.”

This event aims to showcase the versatility and unique flavor of sweetpotatoes during the summer, a release stated. Consumers will share their recipes while encouraging their loved ones to like their content in order to win one of more than a dozen Blackstone premium outdoor cooking prizes.

Retailers can use the contest to display sweetpotatoes that can be utilized in consumers’ recipes, creating a great opportunity to boost category sales and produce aisle traffic.

Shoppers can now submit their original recipes and photos containing sweetpotatoes to win one of 10 second prizes, one of three first prizes, or one grand prize. The contest runs through September 30, 2022.
