Sun World Talks Plans for MIDNIGHT BEAUTY®, AUTUMNCRISP®, ADORA SEEDLESS® and More

BAKERSFIELD, CA - Sun World has finished up its SUPERIOR SEEDLESS® green grapes and Flame Seedless grapes out of the San Joaquin Valley earlier than usual this season, giving the company full reign to start the transition to popular midseason varieties like Princess and Scarlet Royal, and to continue shipping its most popular black seedless MIDNIGHT BEAUTY® grapes through September.

Gordon Robertson, Executive Vice President, Sun World

“Sun World has never had better quality coming out of our vineyards. All proprietary grapes are exhibiting the two most important characteristics for successful sales: good sugars, size and color,” Gordon Robertson, Executive VP of Sales & Marketing for Sun World tells me. “Our SUPERIOR SEEDLESS® green grapes sold at a record pace due to outstanding eating quality, MIDNIGHT BEAUTY® grapes are on pace domestically and export.”

Having dealt remarkably well with a challenging Coachella and Mexico season that we reported on earlier this summer, Sun World estimates continued great quality for its upcoming late season varieties as well.SCARLOTTA SEEDLESS® Grapes

“Late season varieties SCARLOTTA SEEDLESS®, AUTUMNCRISP® and ADORA SEEDLESS® are showing incredible size and great quality, making for a promising outlook on the late season,” Fuller says. “We will have our MIDNIGHT BEAUTY®, our premier black seedless grapes through September. We will also begin harvest on our new AUTUMNCRISP® green grapes in the next two weeks.”

Sun World has made great strides to increase volume growth to meet the demand for the new AUTUMNCRISP® and ADORA SEEDLESS® grapes, anticipating new vineyards to come in production and promotional volumes to be available more broadly in 2016.

To help support the huge global demand the company has been experiencing, Sun World has devised everything from in-store merchandising tools like merchandising bins to increase shelf space and create secondary display locations, and point-of-sale signage. Beyond the in-store merchandising, Sun World has developed cooperative marketing campaigns on social media, in shopper magazines, and on ads to help educate consumers about the unique benefits of Sun World’s proprietary varieties.
