Trader Joe's may be expanding its footprint in Central Texas sooner than expected.
A location at the Seaholm development in downtown Austin is slated for 2014 but the specialty grocer could make its Central Texas debut much sooner with a location in Rollingwood that could open by summer, a city official said, according to reports in the Austin American-Statesman.

The retailer has submitted a building permit application to the city of Rollingwood. The grocer expects to spend about $450,000 to build out a 15,113-square-foot storefront.
Building official for the city of Rollingwood, Michael Alexander, noted that residents there are “quite excited about having Trader Joe’s moving in.”
“The city is eagerly awaiting their arrival,”he said. “Mira Vista is our largest shopping center, and we are really eager to have a good anchor tenant in there. We’re thinking that Trader Joe’s will be the anchor tenant we’ve been looking for.”
Construction could start within a month.
