Yuma, Arizona, faced the threat of continued weather complications last week as warmer temperatures crept into the area. Temperatures rose into the mid to high 90's creating issues on many items with lettuce and leaf most affected. Growers note that they are watching for heat related issues like scalding and internal burn. This is on top of some remaining freeze related issues like blister and epidermal peel.
Temperatures are currently in the high 80's to low 90's, proposing less of a threat when compared to the extreme temperatures of last week. We are told that crop assessment is happening now and growers will get a better picture of the damage in the next few days.
Companies in the region still have plenty of product coming out of the area with vegetables that include lettuce, broccoli, and cauliflower.
