BAKERSFIELD, CA - Papa’s got a brand new bag—of sweet potatoes that is. With enough flair to make even James Brown proud, Country Sweet Produce’s Bako Sweet® brand is set to unveil its new 3 lb and 5 lb conventional and organic mesh sweet potato bags at International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral Show.

According to a press release, the new design includes a variety of helpful visuals and tools for consumers. For example, there will be sweet potato variety-specific information plainly visible. This will help shoppers determine what outside and inside colors of sweet potatoes mean. The QR code guides consumers to a recipe library featuring the products, and recipe photos help inspire use.

There are also cooking instructions with various methods such as microwaving, baking, boiling, and grilling. The American Heart Association’s Heart-Check Food Certification Program is labeled across packaging to reinforce health benefits.

The UPC and pack date are included on the bag artwork for ease at checkout.

Due to the company’s purchase of a new GIRO machine, Bako Sweet will be able to double its efficiency output with these new bags. The brand also anticipates that the bags will create an eye-catching display leading up to the holidays—one of the highest sales season annually for sweet potatoes, the release noted.

The new 3 lb and 5 lb conventional and organic bags will launch in Sam’s Club by the end of this month, followed by other retailers later in the fall.
