WOLCOTT, NY - Sweet, spicy, and bursting with juice, Crunch Time’s Apple Growers SnapDragon® apples are back and ready to hit stores with more volume than ever before. With New York State’s amicable weather this spring and early summer, the company has projected an increase of 60 percent over last year’s Snapdragon production, set to be available as soon as next month.

“Because of abundant rain this growing season, we expect this year’s SnapDragon® apples to be larger and more flavorful than ever,” says Brett Kast, Orchard Manager at Kast Farms in Gaines, New York. “With consumer demand continuing to increase across New York State, most of our growers have planted extra acreage to meet the high demand. Additionally, our growers’ orchards are rapidly maturing, resulting a higher yield per acre.”

Due to what Crunch Time refers to as optimal growing conditions, SnapDragon is expected to go to market earlier this year. According to a press release, the company has estimated SnapDragon to arrive around the time of late September/early October in supermarkets across the country.

Officially launched in 2015, this descendant of the Honeycrisp has been received with success in the marketplace. Crunch Time reported that the flavor profile, size, and extra crunchy hard “snap” of the apple proved a winning mix with both millennials and consumers who shop high-end retail chains in 2016. And now in 2017, SnapDragon is forecasted to perform equally well in all consumer categories.

This spicy sweet flavor makes SnapDragon an easy choice for fall recipes, fresh eating, and wine and cheese pairings, and its slightly smaller size makes it the perfect fit for little hands and healthy kids’ lunches and snacks.
