REEDLEY, CA - Stonefruit season is just around the corner, getting consumers’ tongues wagging for the plethora of fresh offerings hitting their local produce aisles soon. Fruit World has some good news for both buyers and shoppers, as the grower has already begun shipping its organic cherries and the packing and shipping of its organic apricots is kicking off this week.

Bianca Kaprielian, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Fruit World“What a difference one year makes," said Bianca Kaprielian, Co-Founder and CEO. "2020 was a bumpy stonefruit season in California, but this year we had enough chill hours and favorable weather, and the trees are full of great-looking fruit."

Although late April rains hit California, Fruit World’s Coral, Lynn, and Tioga cherries were unaffected and are currently at peak flavor, according to a press release. The fruit is packed at Podesta Packing in Linden, California, using a new state-of-the-art optical sorter that ensures only the highest quality cherries make it to retail. Fruit World’s organic cherry season will continue through the end of May.

Cindy Richter, Sales Director, Fruit World"The fruit looks spectacular. We are really happy with this year’s crop, and it looks great in our fun and bright packaging," said Cindy Richter, Sales Director.

In addition to its organic cherries, Fruit World’s organic apricots are also on their way to retail shelves and are showing great quality and promotable volumes as the season gets underway.

"I’ve never seen the trees so heavy with apricots," added Richter. "It was a great set. The color and sugars are still developing a week or so behind schedule due to the weather cooling off a bit, but as soon as we start shipping, we’ll have promotable volumes through June and maybe into July."

Fruit World’s organic apricots are grown in Reedley, California, and the company is also marketing Blossom Hill apricots from its ranches in Patterson, California. This year, in addition to standard pack styles, the grower is introducing a new sustainable cardboard clamshell to continue to meet retail needs and the demand for sustainable packaging from consumers.

As the stonefruit season continues, Fruit World is the exclusive marketer of world-renowned Masumoto Family Farm fruit and will be offering its peaches and nectarines.

“We appreciate growers who share our values and vision. That’s why we’re super excited about our partnership with Masumoto Family Farm, bringing their legendary peaches and nectarines to market," Kaprielian commented. "And we’re also excited to begin shipping organic peaches this year from our own orchard."
