Gourmet Trading Company's Award Winning Two Piece Display-Ready Asparagus Shipper

Gourmet Trading Company's Two Piece Display-Ready Asparagus Shipper has won the WorldStar Award in the Food Category from the WorldStar Packaging Organisation. 
On April 5, 2012, the company won the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) 2012 AmeriStar Packaging Competition for its innovative asparagus package, allowing the company to enter this international competition.
The shipper was developed by Gourmet Trading Company and California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo in 2010, and offers the unique ability to be converted from a shipper to a display in seconds minus the use of a box cutter.
The design boasts simple instructions on the package, making it easy for retail store employees to separate the top from the tray. Displayed on a 60 degree shelf, the tray can then create a clean presentation with branding on the produce shelf. The shipper also comes with a moisture pad at the bottom of the tray keeps the asparagus fresh.
