London Fruit Expands Cold Storage and Repacking Area
PHARR, TX - One sure sign of success in any industry is expansion—whether it be bringing new people on board, increasing locations, or in this case, looking for more space—growth is always good. For London Fruit, the company is expanding the capacity of its facility by adding an additional 5,000 square feet of state-of-the-art refrigerated cold storage and 4,000 square feet of repacking space.
“The added cold rooms and extension of our repacking area will support our current growth in the lime and mango categories,” said Jerry Garcia, Vice President. “With 2021 marking London Fruit’s 40th year in business, we have many exciting new developments that will be unveiled throughout the new year.”
Completion of the project is expected to take place by the end of January 2021, according to a statement from the importer. Just in time for the start of the Mexican mango season, and the perfect way to kick off the new year.
Every cold room within the expanded 45,000 square foot facility utilizes Airocide PPT Technology developed by NASA, which reduces 95 percent of all airborne mold and fungi, as well as 100 percent of airborne bacteria.
The expansion comes after London Fruit recently released the latest value-added service available in the lime category, having partnered with Hazel Technologies in November.
“We have had strong, continuous growth in our lime program since the introduction of this value-added service. I’m happy to report our customers have seen the results with their own eyes,” said Mario Cardenas, Sales Manager.
