North Bay Produce's Sarah Quackenbush Updates Retail Programs With Strawberry and Blueberry Quality and Differentiation
FLORIDA & MEXICO - 'Tis the season for delicious berries! With desserts, savory treats, and convenience topping the list of holiday demands, North Bay Produce is bringing its recent crop update to retailers looking to make the most out of their strawberry and blueberry destinations.
“For the 2023–2024 season, North Bay has added acres and hectares of new strawberry plants to its Florida and Mexico operations to meet the growing demand in the United States,” Sarah Quackenbush, Sales Manager, details. “We are happy to report that, as the season picks up, we’re expecting exceptional quality and sizing in both regions.”
North Bay’s berry program offers conventional and organic strawberries in 1 lb and 2 lb clamshells.
In addition, North Bay is excited to reveal it has started receiving jumbo blueberries from its Mexico growing operations. Available from mid-December through April, these berries measure in size from 18mm up to 22–26mm, providing juicy plumpness catering to both the snacker and at-home chef, according to a North Bay announcement.
“Many of the jumbo blueberries will come from our newer SEKOYA plantings in Mexico this season,” Sarah notes. “SEKOYA blueberries are a family of blueberries that North Bay has invested in, and only a select few companies from across the globe can grow them.”
SEKOYA blueberries are known for their exceptional size, color, flavor, and texture. This variety is offered in 12 x 18 oz and 12 x 9.8 oz clamshells.
