Organic Trade Association Set to Join Organic Grower Summit

WASHINGTON, DC – In a perfect storm of industry genius, organic growers, producers, and processors will be gathering for the Organic Grower Summit’s two full days of educational sessions, information sharing, and networking opportunities December 13th and 14th. Joining the think tank of organics is Nate Lewis, the organic crop specialist at Organic Trade Association.

Lewis, who is the Organic Trade Association’s Farm Policy Director, will be joining a panel focused on key issues in organic farming today; further, he will be diving into the Trade Association’s efforts with the 2018 Farm Bill and exploring the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s ability to support organic farmers across the nation. Brian Leahy, Director of California’s Department of Pesticide Regulation, will be moderating the panel in which Lewis will be speaking. Leahy and Lewis will be joined by California State Rep. Anna Caballero, CEO of organic produce grower Duncan Family Farms Arnott Duncan, and Vice President of Artichoke Production for Ocean Mist Farms Dale Huss.

The Summit’s charm is centered around the opportunities that arise for organic producers to network with production supply chain and support service providers in a uniquely focused environment. The Organic Produce Network and California Certified Organic Farmers organizations joined forces to launch this distinctive event.

At the Summit, a large array of industry-focused issues will be explored, including, but not limited to, the essentials of sustainable packaging and details on how to leverage precision agriculture. To address these issues, keynote sessions are hone in on the evolution of the retail landscape for organics, the exploration of business opportunities in the organic sector, and the analysis of current political climates in the U.S.’s capital towards organics.

At the event, the Organic Trade Association will be exhibiting to organic growers who see the latest in products and services offered by input suppliers, machinery dealers, and service providers.
