Shuman Farms Celebrates Giving, Good Quality, and Promotable Volumes Going Into Holiday Season; John Shuman Discusses
REIDSVILLE, GA - Fresh, flavorful, healthy food is our industry’s greatest gift; one that keeps on giving and that completes the cozy celebrations of the giving season. Leaning into all these attributes with a hearty offering of sweet onions is Shuman Farms.
“Quality looks good on this year’s sweet onion crop, and we will have promotable volumes of both conventional and organic sweet onions leading up to these heavy consumption holidays and on through the winter months,” John Shuman, President and Chief Executive Officer, shared. “Each November through December, we shift our promotional spotlight to our specially marked Feeding America sweet onion bags, available for both our RealSweet® and Mr. Buck’s Farm Fresh® brands. Shuman Farms will be donating more than 100,000 meals to Feeding America in conjunction with this year’s holiday campaign, which aims to raise awareness of food insecurity during a time of critical need.”
In addition to raising awareness and funds for Feeding America through in-store promotions, John explained how the Shuman Farms team is looking forward to opportunities to give back to their own local community, as well as communities where their products are sold. This will be supported through various volunteer events and food drops over the next few weeks.
“Giving back, hearty meals, and quality time with loved ones are just a few of the things that make the holiday season so special, and all are top of mind for Shuman Farms this year,” he reflected. “We are fortunate that sweet onions are a staple ingredient that can be incorporated into just about any dish. Holiday favorites like dressing/stuffing, roasted vegetables, and countless classic casseroles are no exception.”
Holiday gatherings have always been centered around the dinner table, and luckily for the produce industry, it is no secret that the best cooks utilize fresh, quality ingredients whenever possible. As we continue to report on how the industry meets that need through the end of 2025, keep an eye on AndNowUKnow.
