Supervalu is paying CFO Sherry Smith $300,000 to stay two months longer than originally intended as the company continues to seek a suitable replacement.

CFO since 2010, Smith was slated to leave her 26 year run at the company at the end of May; however, she has agreed to stay until the end of July.
The retention payment accompanies her normal salary according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
For 2012, Smith took home a total of $1.8 million including a base salary of $594,615, according to the Twin Cities Business Magazine.
