Freshway Foods Contributes to a Growing Effort
SIDNEY, OH – Freshway Foods has contributed $2,500 to the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools campaign, according to a recent press release. The donation to the campaign will supply the equipment for a salad bar in one school from more than 1,200 schools that have applied for assistance from the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools. The campaign is part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative and is a grassroots effort by the Food Family Farming Foundation, National Fruit and Vegetable Alliance, United Fresh Produce Association Foundation, and Whole Foods Market.
By the end of 2013, Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools aims to put into place 6,000 salad bars. Dan Purdy, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Freshway Foods, states, “We are proud to support this worthwhile child nutrition cause.” Mr. Purdy, continues, “Salad bars not only encourage increased consumption of fruits and vegetables among children, but they provide the foundation for a lifetime of healthy meal decisions, too.”
