DENVER, CO - The new year is here! As I reflect on 2022, I can’t help but admire those who have conquered their goals and look forward to seeing what they accomplish in 2023. If we look at the produce industry for examples, Windset Farms® stands out. The supplier has utilized its knowledge and expertise to evolve its organic program. Jeff Madu, Vice President of Sales, sat down to tell me how it will continue this trend.

Jeff Madu, Vice President of Sales, Windset Farms®“The organics program has successfully expanded by utilizing our strengths, including understanding seed selection, crop forecasting and planning, quality assurance, and cold chain management,” Jeff shares, detailing what led to the program's growth. “Having experienced staff and resources in these areas ensures a satisfying customer experience.”

Windset Farms began shipping organic produce to customers in 2017, starting with Organic Long English Cucumbers. Over the past five years, the program has expanded immensely to include Organic Tomatoes on the Vine, Roma Tomatoes, Cocktail Tomatoes, Grape Tomatoes, Medley Tomatoes, Bell Peppers, Mini Sweet Peppers, and Mini Cucumbers.

Windset’s year-round Organic offerings are all USDA and Canada Organic Certified, with many products holding additional Fair-Trade Certification. Through its sustainable practices, environmental resource management, fair treatment of farm workers, and more, the grower is looking to create a connection between a trusted food source and the Windset brand.

As demand for organic produce continues to increase year after year, Windset Farms is using its well-established retail presence and positive consumer reception to inspire even more significant category growth.

“In a world of rising costs, providing consistency for our customers and delivering a nutrient-dense flavorful experience to the consumer is key,” Jeff says.

He goes on to share that researching and developing cultivars adapted to grow well in a controlled environmental agriculture setting allows Windset to be on the leading edge of the industry. And he points to Windset's organic growth over the last five years as a clear indicator of its success.

Helping to bolster that success is the grower’s hands-on logistics teams.

“Our teams can provide real-time information when coordinating multiple daily shipments originating from distribution points across North America,” explains Jeff. “Time management, food mile efficiency, and cold chain preservation will minimize waste and lead to a sensible supply chain, which results in price stabilization to fit the family budget."

Looking to the future, Jeff tells me that the company will continue to focus its strengths and expertise on expanding its organic core commodities.

There is no doubt that 2022 was a year of growth for Windset Farms Organics, and I can’t wait to see what the new year has in store.
