INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Produce Moms® (TPM) is joining an elite group of 1,795 American businesses and 4,881 businesses worldwide as the organization has become a Certified B Corporation. After completing an extensive application and vetting process, including rigorous qualifications and high standards, the brand is showcasing its focus on making a positive impact on society, its employees, and the environment.

Lori Taylor, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, The Produce Moms®“More and more, today’s consumer is asking questions about how the companies they buy from and support benefit the world. As a result, we have seen the growth of an official classification and private certification of for-profit corporations that meet the criteria and standards of a B Corporation,” said Lori Taylor, Founder and Chief Executive Officer.

As organizations look to receive B Corp certification, B Lab ranks them based on commitment and performance in legal structure, supply chain practices, philanthropy, customer relations, and employee engagement. According to a press release, candidates must also participate in rigorous assessment in Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers categories.

Overall, TPM scored the highest points possible in the Community category, which identifies whether a company is designed to deliver a specific, material, positive impact for its community, and if so, opens the Community Business Model section that is most applicable. Additionally, the organization ranked near a perfect score in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and indexed above average in Economic Impact and Civic Engagement and Giving.

“The evolution and importance of this consumer movement has shone a bright light on the rise of B Corps, and it’s not just consumers that are placing emphasis on B Corporations!" added Taylor. "Workforce talent is also making a point to join organizations that are about more than just profits. Employees want to be part of work communities that focus on people, the environment, and implement high standards of operational ethics.”

Only 25 percent of B Corps worldwide have B Impact Scores above 100 points, and The Produce Moms came in at 117.1 points, putting the organization in an elite ranking.
