Uber Partners with Southeastern Grocers to Offer Grocery Delivery
FLORIDA - Once upon a time, Uber was known solely as a rideshare service. Now a powerhouse company making waves in the market, Uber is also known for its fast-expanding food delivery service. In July, the company staked its name to the grocery game, announcing grocery delivery in three major markets. Uber is now building on it efforts, recently teaming up with Florida-based Southeastern Grocers (SEG).
“Our customers and communities count on us to adapt quickly to their shifting needs, and right now they need easy and safe access to their groceries more than ever before,” said Adam Kirk, Southeastern Grocers' Senior Vice President of Marketing.
According to Tampa Bay Times, Uber’s grocery delivery service is now available in Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Miami, Florida, with plans for even further expansion on the horizon. Shoppers will be able to access the service via Southeastern Grocers’ banner stores, Winn-Dixie, Harveys, and Fresco y Más.
The news source went on to note that this partnership marks Uber’s first team-up with a Florida-based supermarket.
“Grocery delivery is a priority we’re pursuing at Uber-speed across the country, and in partnership with SEG, Floridians can now turn to the Uber app to get the things they need from the supermarkets they know and love," Uber’s Head of Global Grocery, Raj Beri, said in a statement.
