Walmart Names William White Its New Chief Marketing Officer
BENTONVILLE, AR - Walmart has once again taken over the newswires as reports of its new Chief Marketing Officer, William White, hit headlines. White, who most recently served as Target’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, will join the retail giant on May 11.
According to a memo obtained by Bloomberg News, White will report to Chief Customer Officer Janey Whiteside, filling a role that has been vacant for almost a year since Barbara Messing departed. Before joining Walmart’s team, White joined Target in 2013, during which he oversaw category and brand marketing.
White has extensive experience, including nearly ten years as an executive at Coca-Cola Co., as well as time spent as a media planner and buyer for Starcom MediaVest Group.
Bloomberg noted that the Chief Marketing Officer position is critical during this time, as Walmart is a retailer that the industry looks to for both leadership and messaging.
