CHAPEL HILL, NC - Residents of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, are marking their calendars for February 24 as a new Wegmans location prepares to open its doors. Little do they know, the retailer has also laid plans to open a second new store in Wake Forest this spring. These strategic expansions further solidify the retailer’s influence in NC as competition across the grocery sector continues to heat up.

“We began our journey into North Carolina two years ago and have met the most amazing employees and customers,” said Division Manager Blaine Forkell. “We are eager to open the doors of these next two stores and help serve the needs of our communities. Our store management teams have been working hard to create a welcoming, safe place for new employees and customers to work and shop.”

The Chapel Hill location is situated at 1810 Fordham Road and will be hosting a virtual hiring event on January 14 for roughly 120 remaining part-time positions. According to a press release, Wegmans is also beginning part-time hiring for its Wake Forest store, where there are nearly 275 part-time openings available. Recruitment for 150 full-time employees began in November and is ongoing. Altogether, the Wake Forest store will employ 450 people.
