Fyffes Selects Ireland's Fittest School; Emma Hunt-Duffy Comments
IRELAND - The search is over—Fyffes’ search for Ireland’s Fittest School, that is. The banana maven has once again taken a health-focused approach to connecting with its community, ultimately naming Scoil Na Croise Naofa in Dunfanaghy as the recipient of a check for €5,000 ($5,366) worth of sports equipment.
“It was really encouraging to see the fun, excitement, and enthusiasm from all at the school as they undertook each month’s fitness challenge,” Head of Marketing Emma Hunt-Duffy commented in admiration of the students, teachers, and staff.
For this endeavor, Fyffes partnered up with well-known Irish Olympians Phil Healy and David Gillick, who delivered a fitness workout at the winning school, along with giving talks on nutrition and healthy eating.
According to a press release, the award went to the primary school in recognition of what adjudicators called ‘a culture of fitness evident throughout the school.’ This was following its participation in a six-month competition organized by Fyffes, which over 500 primary schools in the north and south took part in.
Part of Fyffes’ goal was to enhance the momentum built-up under the three-year-long Fyffes ‘Fit Squad’ program of school visits. Until the outbreak of Covid forced its deferral, more than 20,000 young primary-age pupils across Ireland had taken part in face-to-face visits.
As Fyffes continues on its journey to encourage health and wellness within its communities, AndNowUKnow will keep an eye out for the latest news.
