SALINAS, CA - The world is moving toward a more sustainable future, and agriculture is no exception. Naturipe Farms, a global berry producer, has long held sustainability top of mind, making it a priority in all aspects of its operations, from the varieties it plants to the energy it sources.

Naturipe’s Cultivate with Care® initiative uplifts the grower communities, promising to operate in a way that minimizes environmental impact and guides its actions on important issues such as environmental protection, with a substantial focus on pollinator habitat growth, resource conservation, ethical business practices, and the health and safety of its employees and communities.

The berry supplier has helped pioneer packaging developments, reducing plastic, increasing recycled content, and optimizing labels for easier recycling. Many of Naturipe’s blueberry packs utilize top seal technology, which creates a resealable package while reducing plastic by 33 percent. Naturipe is transitioning its labels to be recycle-friendly wash-away and includes How2recycle instructions—making it easier for consumers to play a role in minimizing plastic waste.

Naturipe growers continue to utilize sustainable farming practices in all areas of production. Good soil management is vital to a successful crop, so techniques such as mulching, composting, and chop and drop pruning are all utilized to ensure their soil will be healthy and continue producing great berries for years to come.

One of Naturipe’s proudest achievements in sustainability is its gradual shift towards renewable energy. As of 2024, over one-quarter of its packing and cooling facilities run on renewable energy, including solar, hydroelectric, and nuclear.
