Super Starr International Enters New Season of Honeydew Production

COLIMA, MEXICO – Super Starr International now enters a new honeydew season, which the company says should result in the production of high volumes of honeydew melons through April. In addition to the sweet, refreshing honeydews that one would expect from the grower, Super Starr International now touts a Fair Trade Certification, so, consumers can rest assured that their melons, fresh from the fertile volcanic soils of Tecomán, Mexico, are grown by farmers who receive fair and adequate pay for their labor.

“We’ve had a really good start to the New Year with a solid supply of high quality melons,” said Lance Peterson, third generation farmer of the Super Starr brand and President at Super Starr International in a press release. “We’re also proud to announce that we are Fair Trade Certified and plan on maintaining our commitment to provide quality products with sustainable practices.”

This year, retailers can expect large melons, high volumes, and a crisp, fresh flavor; in addition to the iron, vitamin C, B vitamins, and essential nutrients the fruit normally packs. Retailers should consider cross-promotion, Lance suggested, encouraging consumers to combine the honeydews with other fruits in salads or smoothies, and increasing fruit consumption industry-wide.
